DirecTV Sports Meets "Willy Wonka"

Greetings. The promotional sports package ads that run on DirecTV tend to range from obnoxious to stupid to just plain weird.

Examples of the first category included a series of spots showing sports fans suddenly dying in horrible ways while watching games, only to be immediately transported to "heavenly" versions of their homes, where the same games remained in progress. Sports to die for, apparently.

A new 60-second ad, that pretty squarely falls into the "weird" zone, is now in DirecTV rotation. In this video (Windows Media), we see several familiar television and sports-oriented "celebrities" (and their backing singers) performing a bizarre musical-comedy-sports version of the song "I've Got a Golden Ticket" from the 1971 film classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

I can't quite put my finger on what's particularly disturbing about this commercial, but see what you think.
